In the third round, Olanryugh suddenly fell back into a third of four ring ropes. The fall, it seemed, was not caused by a blow from the mnubag.

After a couple of seconds, Olanryugh turned 180 degrees, lying on the ring rope and seemed to be unconscious, and his head turned to the canvas, prompting the referee by Richard Amvi to reject the counting and signaling urgent medical care.

Olanredaju was taken to the Korle Bu training hospital, where unsuccessful efforts were made to revive him, and he was declared dead shortly after Friday.

Olanredaju began its professional boxing career in 2019. He won the Nigerian weight -weight title in 2021, and also announced the championship of West Africa in 2023. Olanredaju entered his fight against Mbanugu after four consecutive defeats.
