NBA hopes to lend one of the best NHL ideas recently. NBA Commissioner Adam Silver said that the League is studying the idea of replacing the ALL-STAR game for an international competition that puts players from the United States against other best players from around the world, reports The Athletic.
Silver – and the President of Operations Byron Spruell – made these comments in Associated Press sports editors on Monday.

Silver pointed out that the game next year will take place during the Winter Olympic Games, which inspired the NBA thoughtfully.
“Our game All-Star will return to NBC next season in the middle of their lighting of the Winter Olympic Games. Given the strong interest that we saw in the international basketball competitions, more recently at the Olympic Games of last summer in Paris, we are discussing concepts with the Association of players who are concentrated on NBA players, representing their countries or regions, instead of the more traditional formats that we used in the past. ”
Sprwell said that the League is trying to rely on the idea of ”the USA against the rest of the world.”
The game NBA All-Star 2026 is scheduled for February 15, 2026. The 2026 Winter Olympic Games will be held from February 6 to February 22.
It is not clear which format will use the league if it decides to make changes. The NBA can just hold the ALL-STAR game, in which the team, consisting of players from the United States, takes on the team of the best international players in sports.

NBA can also consider the issue of adopting the idea of 4 NHL nations and turn the event into a mini-tournament. Instead of keeping his traditional ALL-STAR game last season, the NHL organized a mini-tournament in which the best players from the four countries are connected by states, Canada, Sweden and Finland, they competed with each other for nine days.
Canada and the United States met at the championship, and Canada came out in the first place. The game brought 9.3 million spectators, which was a major victory for the NHL.
NBA can look for a similar victory. Silver criticized the League’s efforts to improve the game All-Star, which went so far that the 2025 event “Miss” called. Silver corrected the ALL-STAR game several times for his stay as a commissar and ultimately settled in a tournament of four teams in 2025, in which the FeecPly NHL model was missing in the NHL.

Silver was asked if the league would imitate the new format of the game in the NHL in March in March. At that time, he said that he was not sure that this idea makes sense.
A month later, Silver, obviously, changed his mind. Given the apathy for the current NBA All-STAR game and the excitement surrounding 4 NHL countries, there would be no shock to see how the NBA would go to the international competition in 2026.
